Hydrocarbons or Oil in water
By using the ALPHA spectrometer system with a dedicated flow through cell a fast and accurate analysis of the hydrocarbon content in water is possible. Due to a robust instrumental setup, simple sample preparation and a user-friendly measurement procedure the analysis can even be performed by untrained users. The complete test takes less than 10 minutes and therefore is very appropriate to be used as a monitoring method for large sample numbers.
The determination of extractables (EL) and non-polar extractables (NEL) is a widespread analysis for determining the concentration of hydrocarbons in water. The analysis is standardized according to ČSN 75 7506, ASTM D7575 and others.
In our portfolio we have the ready-to-go FTIR spectrometer ALPHA II prepared directly for analyzes according to these standards - with 1cm and 5cm liquid cuvette and even with a built-in function for easy calculation of aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbon content in water.
We also offer an alternative - extraction with the help of chloroform and determination of hydrocarbons in a 100 µm liquid cuvette, for which a calibration curve in the range of 0-140 ppm is also available.
Moreover, we offer state-of-the-art determination methods without the use of extraction reagents and other chemicals and in full compliance with standards (ASTM D7575). Minimum sample preparation requirements and maximum simplicity! All you have to do is filter the water sample and then analyze the filters in transmission mode - see the application video below:
