Scientists from the British company Biocel Analytics came up with a very current application. Using a simple ATR measurement of an oral swab sample, COVID 19 viral disease can be diagnosed in a few tens of seconds and without further sample modification.
When comparing the data from ALPHA II with the conventionally used PCR method, the 90% agreement was found! Now the implementation of this technique in the UK is underway, so hopefully we will soon see this fast and cheap method of testing also in our country.
