Military applications
The protection and security of the population and territory is one of the main tasks of the military and security forces. Military conflicts, terrorism and related conventional and homemade CBRN weapons (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons) represent an ever-present and complex threat. Therefore, rapid and effective security analysis is a key pillar of national security.
Bruker instruments using Ion Mobility Spectroscopy (IMS) technology act as robust, easy-to-use, extremely reliable and low-maintenance detectors. Whether designed for outdoor/indoor use or built into vehicles, the instruments provide state-of-the-art detection capabilities for explosives and hazardous chemicals. The more compact RAID-M100 PLUS, RAID-P and RAID-XP models or the stationary RAID-S2plus and TIMON probes stand out in these categories.
In addition to IMS technology, GC/MS (gas chromatography/mass spectrometry) is also of great importance in chemical safety analysis. Due to its small size and compactness, the MM2 allows the analysis of more complex compounds directly in the field.
Biological threats are detected by pBDi, a state-of-the-art portable ELISA-based platform designed to quickly and sensitively identify viruses, bacteria and toxins. In the field of radiation security, detectors such as SVGPps and Radiation Probe will find their application. The SVGps is a high-end handheld system, while the Radiation Probe is mounted on a body and is used stationary or on vehicles and vessels.
